Radio Station

The first neighbourhood centre at the Houlton Radio Station for Urban&Civic as part of the 6000 home sustainable urban expansion of Rugby.

Designed as a settlement in an open landscape with buildings deliberately and closely juxtaposed to create a sense of place and form a social focus, the modern barn typology provides a historic reference to the original farm buildings whilst creating an easily adaptable template for social, commercial or leisure uses offering sustainable future proofing.

The new buildings act as a counterpoint to the refurbished Old Barn and original Farmhouse and will form two courtyards, one public with hard landscape and the other with soft landscape for quiet contemplation.
