After Glow

Achieving as a minimum BREEAM ‘Excellent’ and targeting ‘Outstanding', this 110 bed timber framed sustainable hotel for global developer Lend Lease at Bluewater follows the opening of Glow, the new Events Venue.

The design follows the principles of sensitive passive design to manage solar gain, natural light and ventilation. CHP; renewable energy; geothermal; rain water harvesting and reed bed filtration have all been evaluated to achieve the most effective design and reduce the impact on the important wetland habitat.

The hotel utilises pre-fabricated techniques and incorporates an external horizontal rail timber rain-screen to reduce embodied energy. A restrained palette of natural materials is used to reflect the natural surroundings.
