Densification – Isle of Dogs, Docklands

Creating a new District Centre to regenerate an under-utilised site in Docklands the site forms a transition between the urban landscape of Canary Wharf and the pastoral landscape of Mudchute Park.

Leveraging the benefit of the existing levels the new urban square to the north forms the focus for the public realm and commercial entity, whilst the residential wings are on the upper level related to the park setting. The servicing and car parks are partly buried to enhance permeability between the urban square and park.

The residential wings are orientated north-south to maximise the daytime aspect of sun and the park setting, whilst the night time views to Canary Wharf increase their desirability and the ‘sense of place’.
